A new, predominantly freshman dormitory known as Centennial Hall was established in 2011 and is adjacent to the Carillon Place Dining facility. Kohl Hall is a dormitory unique to members of the Chapman Learning Community, Partners in Context and Community for Urban Educators. The Geology, Chemistry and Earth Science departments are positioned in Overman Hall. Today, it features technologically advanced laboratories for chemistry, biology, geology, and medical lab science. In November 2019 the computer Science Department celebrated its 50th anniversary, with former Stanford University Computer Science chair Dr. Alex Aiken and Dr. David Fulton giving speeches. The Student Recreation Center is a 185,000 sq ft (17,000 m2) facility that features two swimming swimming pools, 4 weight rooms, a cardio room, an elevated working track, an Activity Center for aerobics and a big sports activities center which accommodates basketball, tennis, volleyball, and badminton and different sports.
